Life Hack: Organize Your Closet
Organize your Closet and Cut Down on Clutter With this Helpful Hack!
As we say goodbye to 2016 and welcome the fresh start the new year brings us, our thoughts turn to ways we can simplify our lives and improve upon our daily habits and routines. One popular New Year’s resolution is to minimize clutter and keep our homes organized, but it can be time-consuming and difficult to stick to our tidy new habits as the year wears on. Lucky for all of us, this life hack is so simple there is virtually nothing you have to do too differently, and the payoff can be huge!
Step 1: Turn all your hangers around backwards. That’s right- take every hanger in your closet and flip it around so that the hook is facing the back of the closet. (This is actually the most difficult part of the whole process- we told you it was easy!)
Step 2: Each time you wear something, flip the hanger back around when you hang it back up. This way you can see at a glance what you’ve worn and what has yet to be taken off of the hangers.
Step 3: Once the season is over, pull out anything that is still facing backwards in your closet. Unless there is a compelling reason to keep it (such as sentimental value or an upcoming event you are saving it for), donate it, since you can be sure you didn’t wear it once all year.
That’s it! Do this once every 6 months, or as needed for seasonal clothing changes, and get ready to be amazed at the difference in your closet. Clutter-free, organized living with the bare minimum effort- now that’s a New Year’s resolution we can get behind!
