5 Ways to Clean Your Appliances Before the Holidays

It is almost that time for the family from all over the state, country, and world will be stopping by your home to have a wonderful meal for the holidays. Make sure that your kitchen is ready and is spotless and working efficiently. With these tips, you will have your whole family thinking that you bought brand new appliances and did a huge kitchen remodel

1. Cleaning Stainless Steel

Stainless steel appliances are not created equally. There are some finishes that say they are finger print resistant, but most of the stainless steel finishes are prone to getting finger prints and spills on them. Some stainless steel cleaners use harsh chemicals and others are more eco-friendly. We recommend using the Ecosential Stainless Steel Cleaner with a microfiber cloth. Make sure to spray the cleaner on the microfiber cloth and wipe down the appliances in the direction of the grain. Make sure to rub your cloth very gently and let the cleaner do the hard work. Your stainless steel will look professionally polished just like you bought it new.

2. Cleaning Your Cooktop

Cleaning burnt food on your cooktop can give people a headache. These stains or discolored spots can be removed easily when using Cerama Bryte. Make sure to purchase the cleaning kit that includes the cleaning pad, the cooktop scrapper, and the cleaner. Before you start cleaning, make sure that your smooth-top cookware is cool and dry. Apply a quarter sized drop of the cleaner directly onto the burner and use the yellow cleaning pad to apply the cleaner to the cooktop and scrub in a circular motion. This loosens the stains and gets rid of the discoloration. For bigger stains, you can use the single blade scraper to scrape of the residue.

If you have a coil range, it can be a little bit of a longer process to clean. Make sure that your oven is not on and that it is not hot. Unplug the coils and take them to the skink. Use a steel wool pad and rub off the burnt particles off. For the drip pans, you can take them off and sprinkle baking soda onto the surface. Take a spray bottle of vinegar, water, and lemon essential oil and squirt it onto the pan and let it sit for a couple of hours. Then take a steel wool pad and scrub off the particles in your sink. Rinse it off and it looks like its new! You can also buy new drip pans for an easier fix.

3. Cleaning Your Dishwasher

Cleaning your dishwasher inside is extremely important. There can be high mineral content in your water also known as hard water. This can lead to rust and cracks in the racks and silverware baskets. Using the product Glisten Dishwasher Magic can prevent damages in your dishwasher and your dishes. Take the bottle and open the cap. Place it in your silverware rack upside down with nothing else in your dishwasher and run a normal cycle. Using this product will improve water circulation, kill 99.9% of germs, lower electrical consumption, and decreases the risk of dishwasher breakdown.

4. Cleaning Your Refrigerator

It is important to clean the coils of your refrigerator every 4-5 months to maximize the refrigerator efficiency. Make sure that your refrigerator is unplugged. The condenser coils are located either under the refrigerator behind the grille or in the back of the refrigerator. Take a coil brush and brush off the dust, dirt, hair, and other particles off. Sweep up the particles that fall onto the floor. You can place back the grille and plug the refrigerator back into the wall.

This is also a great time to also replace your water filter if you have one. You can also do a wipe down in your refrigerator to get rid of any spills or dirt.

5. Cleaning Your Laundry Washer

It sounds funny, but even your washer needs a wash. Get rid of unpleasant odors and avoid mold in your washer. The best thing to do is to clean your washer with Affresh Washer Cleaner Kit. Take the wipe first and clean the surface of the drum and by the lip of the door. Place one of the tablets into the washer and run a cycle with hot water by itself. Newer washers do have a clean washer setting. Once the wash cycle is complete, finish by doing one rinse and clean cycle to get out the entire cleaner. When the cycle is done it is all set for a new load of laundry. Make sure to do this every 30 wash cycles.
